Gas Surcharge: The $1.00 gasoline surcharge is in effect at this time.
Taxicab Rates:The District of Columbia taxicabs use time & distance meters to compute cab fares. Use the Rates link to see the current metered fare rates and extras like additional passengers, luggage and radio call.
Shared Ride: Shared Ride can only be done at Union Station under the supervision of a dispatcher. Under Shared Ride each passenger will pay the metered fare displayed before departing the taxicab.
Group Ride: Group Ride was redefined as a group of passengers from the same pickup location going to different destinations who are willing to share the taxicab ride. The driver will start the meter at the beginning and stop it at end of each leg of the trip. The departing passengers at each leg will pay the fare amount and extras displayed on the meter. The additional passenger charge of $1.50 is in effect for multiple passengers departing at the same destination.
Emergency Ruling on the $19.00 Cap: As of July 30. 2010, the DC Taxicab Commission voted through Emergency Ruling regulation to amend the language of the $19.00 DC to DC fare cap. The new language states the fare cap is for a one-way trip only without stops included. Every stop or additional trip shall be metered separately.

YCDC's new automated computer dispatch system uses GPS and a combination of zonal and closet cab dispatch methods to quickly dispatch the nearest cab to the customers. There is more than enough work in the system today and increasing rapidly. Now is the time to stop "bumping the curb" and become a computer-dispatched taxicab driver.
